If you are just a beginner -The easiest way to get started is to get a local field guide for your part of the country. I live in Pennsylvania so I use PetersonField Guides - Eastern Birds. Grab a pair of binoculars, your field guide and get outside, you can start in your own backyard. From here you can try and attract different species to your backyard with bird feeders and bird baths or venture out to nearby areas to find more variety that comes with different habitats.
